WELCOME TO
Reflecting the East, West, and North coasts, this Indigenous-led Community of Practice brings together First Nations Rights and Title Holders, First Nations organizations, and aspiring allies to enhance coastal resilience by deepening connections to Indigenous cultures and Indigenous Ocean Knowledges. We will foster and restore relationships through Truth and Reconciliation, one story, one meal, and one paddle stroke at a time.
By acknowledging First Nations as First Responders, and recognizing the constant presence of climate change in our territories, we will change the narrative about who leads in times of crisis. By fulfilling our inherent responsibilities to the land, waters, and all our relatives (including red sea urchin, salmon, orcas, and other species that reflect ocean health), we will move from crisis response to restoration, repair, and healing.
We will centre youth, emerging professionals, and Two-Spirit leadership and generosity, and uplift voices that are currently missing in ocean spaces. We will lead with hope and learn from international networks about ocean cultures, coastal resilience, and climate action, collaborating for a sustainable planet.
